mophie announced their juice pack battery case lineup for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, a slim mophie Juice Pack reserve for the iPhone 6s, the juice pack H2PRO which is an extremely durable military-standard battery case for the iPhone 6s and 6s plus, and showed off a smart battery powerstation with a mobile power management app.
mophie Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge battery case
The mophie battery cases for the new Samsung are capable of wireless charging, which is a first for mophie. It would be interesting to see how it develops further to bring wireless convenience to their other battery packs. They are compatible with Qi and other charging standards, and should also support Samsung’s fast charging protocol.
These battery packs provide an additional 60% (3300mAH) battery, and offers edge to edge protection, especially useful on the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. There’s mophie’s proprietary Impact-Isolation System which adds extra cushion to the edges and corners of the protective case for better support. It’s available in Black and priced at S$139. Available at the usual mophie retailers, which are Best Denki, Challenger, Digivue, and Takashimaya.
There’s the usual pass through ports and the mophie case for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will still allow NFC to function.
mophie juice pack reserve
Made for the iPhone 6s, it is their most compact battery case to date. With mophie high impact protection system, protection is still a top priority, and it offers a 1,840 mAH battery for that extra boost (up to 6 hours of additional video playback!). Available in black, blue and rose gold, it retails for $79 and might make for a nice present. Psst. I’m giving away one in rose gold colour away soon.
mophie H2PRO is built to survive the extremes
Water, dust, and accidental drops will not hold back the the H2PRO. It is a full protection IP68 case, including a front screen protection. It’s priced at $189, but allows you to enjoy extended battery with a rugged protective case. Sounds perfect actually for those frequently outdoors, like hikers, mountain climbers with no access to a power point.
The mophie powerstation is the typical powerbank. In a market flooded with cheap battery powerbanks, mophie hopes to differentiate itself by reliability and performance. The devices are tested rigorously to ensure they are able to deliver power reliably and safely. That said, there are value for money alternatives like the Xiaomi and Asus battery packs which are pretty reliable too.
One thing that mophie has innovated is the development of their mobile management Power app, which allows users to monitor and manage the battery life of their smartphone and also bluetooth – enabled powerstation. It is able to track remaining battery life, charging current, and indication of time to full. It is also able to notify you when your battery pack needs a top up. The design and development of the app itself could use some improvements. The app is clearly not tablet compatible, and doesn’t resize correctly to the iPad screen dimensions. With so many apps nowadays, it is easy to get inundated but I thought this could be useful.
