Sudio Vasa Bla Earphones Review

The Sudio Vasa Bla offers wireless freedom, with Bluetooth connection that promises up to 8 hours of listening time. If you are looking for a gift for a techie, the Sudio Vasa Bla might be a good choice. It’s a positive experience right from the unboxing. The wife said the box looked like an Apple device, which I guess, can be taken as a compliment. The box unfolds like a book, with excellent care and detail to every step.

Disclaimer: I was given this pair of earphones for the review.

What I like About It

Elegant design. It’s similar to other bluetooth wireless headphones, such as the Jaybird X2 which I reviewed previously. What I like about it is that the ear buds are pretty light and fit snug in the ear. It doesn’t require the fancy ear hooks to stay in place. Sound isolation was also good, as it was able to keep out majority of the ambient noise while being comfortable to wear. The 4 choices of different size earbuds are definitely helpful. Bluetooth earphones typically compress the sound, but the sound quality of the Sudio Vasa Bla was above average. I would think they are quite comparable to the Jaybirds X2. The Vasa Bla’s 10.2mm dynamic drivers offers plenty of details, and a wide sound stage. The sound is especially bright and crisp sounding, with excellent clarity. If to find fault with it, the bass, like most of such earphones, can be improved.

It’s equipped with a full-feature 3-button remote and mic attached right to the ear buds. No complains on the voice quality of the mic. Compared to headphones, earphones are excellent companions for those frequently on the move. Perfect for slipping into my bag. Sudio also made sure that the cable linking the two ear buds are flat, for a true tangle-free experience. I was initially worried that my keys would scratch the shiny metal finish on the buds. But not too worry, the Sudio Vasa Bla carrying case is of top notch quality.

The earphones, electronics, and controls are encased in a tough rubber material, which is also sweat proof. They can double up to accompany you for your runs too. Did I mention that it’s only 14g? Yep, super light.

The Negatives

The battery pack is rather prominent and can get in the way, especially if you wear it while jogging as it tends to rock back and forth. But otherwise, I would usually forget that it’s there. On the other hand, the light indicator is way too bright, it flashes blue every few seconds, even after pairing, and is rather prominent at night. But nothing some tape and a black marker couldn’t solve.

Ongoing Promotion “lovesummer”

The VASA Bla earphones is from Swedish brand Sudio. Sudio stands for elegant products with studio quality sound and exquisite quality. They are new to Singapore but ships direct from their website via DHL in 3-4 days time (shipping costs inclusive). Available in 4 colors, Pink, Blue, Rose Gold White, and Rose Gold Black. Sudio’s having an ongoing Summer Campaign 2016, use the code “lovesummer” for 15% discount off, and you can also receive a free summer tote bag, as pictured here.

The Vasa Bla retails for $165, but with the coupon code, and also VAT reduction (as we are in Singapore), will bring the final price to about $112.20. Warranty would require you to ship back though, as there isn’t a local distributor.

If you are buying these as a gift, the gift packaging will set you back an extra $5, but it’s nice.

Verdict

  • Nice looking design
  • Good range
  • Decent sound
  • Good carrying case
  • LED can be irritating

I would like to thank Sudio for sending me these. Appreciate it and I am using them rather frequently these days.
