The new Galaxy J2 Pro boasts a 5” qHD Super AMOLED screen – which in numbers translate to a 960 x 540 screen. AMOLED might mitigate with better colours but don’t expect good sharpness at that sort of resolution. Running on only 1.5 GB RAM and a Snapdragon 425 CPU, this is not the phone for playing games. Galaxy Note8 Launch in Singapore

The Galaxy Note8 has been unveiled. With the Galaxy Note8, consumers get a oh slightly by 0.1″ bigger Infinity Display, S Pen to communicate in more personal ways, and Samsung’s first ever dual smartphone camera to capture stunning photos. The Galaxy Note8 is designed for the way consumers lead their lives and lean on technology today.

Building upon the Galaxy legacy, users can also pair their Galaxy Note8 with the Samsung DeX station – a device that provides users with a desktop-like experience. Optimised for use with a keyboard and mouse, users can simply insert their Galaxy Note8 into the Samsung DeX Station7 to start working seamlessly with the connectivity they need, while enjoying added mobility.

Other than the dual camera setup and S-Pen, the Note8 is really similar to the Galaxy S8. So if you aren’t too keen on the S Pen, the S8 really makes good financial sense.

Also, the dual camera setup operates on a telephoto (zoom) concept, as that of the iPhone. If you are hoping for some widescreen camera goodness such as the LG G6 / V30, you are out of luck.

Registration of interest with telecommunication operators for the Galaxy Note8 will commence from 25 August 2017, Friday, 12pm.

Local Pricing and Availability

The Galaxy Note8 will be available from 15 September 2017 at a recommended retail price of $1,398 including GST. Available in Midnight Black, Maple Gold and Orchid Gray, the device will be available at all local telecommunication operators, major consumer electronic stores, authorised mobile retailers, Samsung Experience Stores and Lazada Singapore.

Review: LG G6 – Great Phone with a Useful Dual Lens Camera

The G6 is LG’s best phone yet. Equipped with an immersive display, the G6 improves on the best feature of the LG G5 while cherry picking the popular features from other Android phones. It’s a more conservative approach, but it’s a pretty awesome package.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 will be a compelling choice, but the LG G6 is a viable alternative too.

Here are 3 reasons why I prefer the LG G6:

  1. A more useful camera. The dual lens setup on the LG G6 offers so much more versatility as compared to the Galaxy S8. The traditional normal field of view shooter will hold its own too.

  2. It’s easier to hold. The Galaxy S8 is definitely prettier, and more polished in terms of overall build. The LG G6 isn’t it’s equal but still manages to hold it’s own. I used a S7 Edge previously, and honestly, using it near the edges wasn’t the best experience.
    It’s also much easier to apply proper tempered glass protectors and cases than the S8

  3. Price and value. The LG G6 is cheaper than the S8 and S8 plus by about $150 to $300 and there is an ongoing promotion of a 49” LG TV with signup of a broadband plan. There’s also an additional 12 month warranty too.
