LG 5.5-inch Optimus G Pro makes its Debut

LG has finally pulled the curtains off the XL 5.5-inch version of its upcoming Optimus G Pro at the end of a Facebook promo last week, with an anticipated launch date of Feb 20 in Korea, with further launches in Europe and North America soon, likely following MWC.

The LG Optimus G Pro is equipped with the largest display yet to be seen on an LG Smartphone, and it will rival the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, with much improved specifications. The Full HD IPS display on the Optimus G Pro – developed in partnership with LG Display – delivers 1920 x 1080 pixels at 400ppi. In additional The smartphone offers the largest battery capacity in its class at 3,140mAh, allowing for Full HD viewing enjoyment for hours on end. And with an improved 13MP rear and 2.1MP front camera, users can also capture images and videos in Full HD, the same quality found on high definition TVs. LG has also seemed to incorporate the sparkle back cover of the Nexus 4 the Optimus G Pro. There are a number of specific to LG UI tweaks, such as the ability to video record using both the front and rear camera, simultaneously and would require further elaboration to see how effective this really is. There’s also a 360 degree camera mode, for full horizontal and vertical panorama. LG has given their UI much thought and it is comparable to the other phone’s manufacturers. Furthermore, even if you do not like the default customisation, you could always install another launcher to your own preference. With the next version of the Note still months away, LG Optimus G Pro 5.5 inch would be a good consideration for the phone-tablet size arena.

The phone will be released on Korean carriers SK Telecom, KT and LG Uplus on Wednesday for 968,000 won (US$897). Visitors to the 2013 Mobile World Congress (MWC) can experience Optimus G Pro and its advanced UX features for themselves at LG’s Booth in Hall 3.
