What I like about it

It runs XBMC and the modular design allows users to stack accessories such as blu-ray player, TV tuner STB, additional HDD, IR transmitter etc without any wires or driver installation. As XBMC currently supports PVR / tuner Live TV integration, it should be pretty straightforward to set up. The founder also added that it would be compatible with DVB-T2 for Singapore broadcasts. It is a simple, elegant implementation for a media hub and can also function as a NAS. The default 1TB internal storage space should be handy for most people. You would need to leave it permanently on but as it is a low power linux-based chipset – EzeeCube can act like a network attached storage (NAS) and can save any kind of files from windows and mac computers via inbuilt FTP server.

The modular design helps keep costs manageable and scales to your needs – although the US$299 retail pricing is definitely on the pricier side. Costs would also increase rather quickly due to the single supplier, but that helps ensure the unified look. Beauty comes at a cost.

StartUps are always a difficult journey, and the team shared they have been going at it since Jan 2013 – They began as a 3 members team and now have 8 members helping in development, sourcing, production, legal and marketing. They are currently largely self-funded and focusing on the Indiegogo campaign now. Post funding, they would also be interested in strategic funding post campaign to speed up software development and hardware production.
