Sony’s α5100 Available for Pre-Order – Singapore
Sony makes pretty awesome interchangeable lens cameras. The latest Sony’s α5100 is the World’s Smallest Interchangeable Lens Camera with Super-fast Autofocus and great all around professional-quality pictures.
To visualise it, the α5100 – 109.6 x 62.8 x 35.7mm body is approximately the size of two deck of playing cards stacked together. So, yes, it’s very small. while cramming in a DSLR-quality APS-C sensor. This is the same sensor used on the α6000, alongside the 179 point, hybrid autofocus system which offers extremely fast AF response. For those selfie moments or quirky angle shots, the α5100 comes with a tilting touchscreen that can flip up to 180 degrees. Besides the optical specs, the α5100 comes with Wi-Fi and NFC for easy sharing connectivity. Sony has made the α5100 easy and fun to use, combining premium ‘DSLR’ picture quality with the user-friendliness and fun features more common in mobile phones and consumer-friendly cameras.

Sony has started the pre-order for the α5100 in Singapore, with a series of freebies valued at S$229. This include the typical memory card, case, phone apps and battery pack. Nothing too significant but you may wish to leverage on the purchase with purchase lens on offer. The α5100 or a5100 would retail for S$999 in Singapore and available at all usual electronic retail distributors as well as Sony retail stores. The $999 package is for the standard body + lens, SELP1650, a pancake 16-50mm with aperture range 3.5-5.6 and Optical SteadyShot image stabilisation built-in. The α5100 will be available in Singapore from 4 September 2014 onwards.
