Waterproof Xperia Z3+ to be Available – June 2015

Sony announces the new Xperia Z3+, which is the international name for the Xperia Z4, which was announced earlier last month in Japan.

Here’s the details from Sony.

Slimmer (6.9mm) and lighter (144g), Xperia Z3+ continues the same Sony design story with discreet, but impressive improvements. It remains to be one of the few flagships that is waterproof and dust-tight (IP65/68). As a further design refinement Z3+ features a capless USB port making it easier and more convenient to charge your phone.

However, the magnetic charging pin has been removed. I always thought the magnetic charging pins on the Sony Xperia line to be a nice compromise between the hassle of plugging in a micro USB cable and the convenience of magnetic charging.

Z3+ comes available in a choice of four colour options to meet your individual taste and style – classic Black and White are joined by a new interpretation of Copper and Aqua Green.

The rear camera sensor, features a 20.7MP camera with Exmor RS™ for mobile image sensor, BIONZ™ for mobile processing engine, and a 25mm wide-angle G lens. ISO sensitivity goes up to ISO 12800 and sees a 1 / 2.3 image sensor. However, the lack of flash might be an area of concern.

Xperia Z3+ comes packed with the ultra fast (and hot) Snapdragon 810 octa-core 64 bit processor. Sony claims an up to two-day battery stamina with their innovative power-saving technology. This is interesting, as the Z3+ sees a reduction in battery size from 3100 mAH to 2700 mAH.

Anyhow, the Z3+ does support Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0, and you can get up to one day usage with just 45 minutes of charging.

Xperia Z3+ will launch globally from June 2015 in both Single SIM and Dual SIM variants. For Singapore, the Xperia Z3+ will be launching in the Single SIM variant. The Xperia Z3+ is a minor refinement over the Xperia Z3, continuing on the same vein, yet now slimmer and lighter. For those looking for a sleek looking flagship class phone, with waterproof features, this would be one to consider.
