Asus ZenPad C 7.0 Available in Singapore

ASUS announced the ZenPad C 7.0 (Z170CG) earlier this week. It’s a 7-inch basic Android tablet that’s priced at S$199. Inspired by stylish clutch handbags and wallets, the ZenPad C 7.0 extends the basic tablet design with embossed leather patterns and a polished metallic frame for a bold and luxurious feel. Edges are rounded to make the ZenPad C more comfortable to hold and carry.

The ZenPad C 7.0 is only 8.4 mm thin and weighs a portable 265g. Bezel size is kept minimum with a 76.5% screen to body ratio. Powered by the latest Intel® SoFIA processor, ZenPad C 7.0 is the first device to be powered by the locally created mobile chipset. Available in Obsidian Black and Pearl White colours, the ZenPad C 7.0 CG will be retailing at $199 at all ASUS authorised retailers and ASUS brand stores.

Other features shared by Asus were that the ZenPad C 7.0 would be running on Android 5.0 Lollipop with ZenUI, and a 1024 x 600 IPS wide viewing angle display, optimised with ASUS TruVivid and Bluelight Filter and there’s even DTS-HD premium sound and SonicMaster technology for further audio enhancement. The ZenPad is only equipped with a single front speaker, which will suffice for most usage purpose, but DTS-HD playback? Well, if you can afford the optional ASUS Audio Cover, there’s a 5.1 channel surround sound system with a battery pack to deliver up to six hours of continuous use on a single charge. Audio Cover also doubles as a convenient stand for video watching or getting some work done.

Options

Options are limited for a 7″ tablet. The ZenPad C 7 inch is an inexpensive tablet, but specs are nothing great either. A refurbished Nexus 7 2013 might be a worthwhile consideration instead. Alternatively, there’s the Lenovo TAB 2 A7-10, but that runs on Android 4.4. Chuwi Vi7 is a cheap China OEM (S$130) that sports the same processor, RAM, storage as the ZenPad C but weighs significantly 35% heavier.
