Dell Latitude 12 Tablet – Tough is an Understatement

Require a tablet that meets MIL-STD-810G? Dell has just announced their fully rugged tablet that’s built for the harshest conditions and tested to meet the military’s stringent tests of heat, cold, moisture, humidity, sand and dust, vibration and shock. At the same time, the Latitude 12 boasts useful features, such as a screen suited for outdoor reading, and gloved multi-touch support, which is very useful when you need to use the tablet in the bitter cold. For peak performance in the most severe temperatures, the Rugged Tablet comes pre-packaged with Fourth Generation QuadCool thermal management and powerful, efficient Fifth Generation Intel Core M processors. The Rugged Tablet has up to 12 hours of battery life with two 2-cell batteries.

The Rugged Tablet also features solid state storage up to 512GB and connectivity anywhere with 802.11ac Wi-Fi as well as an optional mobile broadband and dedicated GPS. It’s IP65 rated, which means that water projected by a nozzle (6.3mm) against enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effects. Although it is not able to survive full immersion into water.

In addition to empowering customers to be more mobile whatever the conditions, the tablet features a durable pogo-pin docking interface for modular component expansion when needed and the ability to pair with an extensive ecosystem including desk dock, vehicle dock and keyboard. There’s even a customisable RGB backlight keyboard with IP-65 rating so that you operate with the keyboard in the same harsh conditions. The RGB backlight inclusion is interesting, as I would supposed

“Dell Rugged devices are critical to many industries including military, emergency response, public safety, industrial work, scientists and even adventurers.” says Harjeet Singh Rekhi, general manager, Client Solutions, Dell South Asia.

The Latitude 12 Rugged Tablet will be available in Singapore on July 28. See the tablet in action below.
