HP Announces New PC Lineup for Singapore – for the Modern Workforce

HP Inc Singapore says that Millennials wants cooler devices and are frequently on the move. They announced an upcoming slew of products from their PC line last week targeted at this emerging segment. With the tagline “Keep Reinventing”, HP Inc caught my eye with the super slim HP Spectre 13, the cool looking thinnest laptop that packs an i5 / i7 core chip, and the HP Elite X3, which offers Windows Continuum, an integrated mobile to desktop experience.

HP Spectre 13

The HP Spectre 13 is not something you would expect from HP. Even the traditional HP logo gets revamped. The catch line is that at 10.4mm, this is the world’s thinnest laptop. And HP is keen to show it off. There’s a whole bunch of engineering thought and design to achieve such a feat, one of it is the the multiple cell battery, and the piston style hinge that props the screen up, and how it hides into the chassis when closed. Beyond the good looks, which is in abundance, the Spectre 13 isn’t just a show pony. It is powered by your choice of sixth-gen Core i5 or i7 processors, helped by up to 8GB of RAM and PCIe solid-state drives with up to 512 gigs of storage. It also brings more ports than you might expect: three USB Type-C connections.

HP Elite X3

HP is releasing a smartphone – the Elite X3, and it’s going to run Windows. Windows Phone is unfortunately, not in a very good place at the moment, but the concept of Continuum is really quite impressive. The phone itself is pretty solid. Snapdragon 820 chipset and 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, along with 64GB of internal storage. There’s also IP67, and a shockproof chassis. Dual SIM slots help strengthen its usefulness for a business phone. Lastly, there’s also a 5.96-inch Quad HD display.

Connect the phone to the dock, and your apps are transformed to their desktop equivalent. You can navigate in a familiar Windows desktop environment with your keyboard / mouse on a Displayport connected screen. It’s perfect from a business perspective, but otherwise limited everywhere else due to the unpopularity of the Windows phone ecosystem. HP also will be introducing a laptop dock equivalent at a later stage – something similar to the Asus Padfone series.

Elitebook Folio

While the Spectre 13 was all flashy, HP has a bunch of laptops that are more traditional for the business environment and these get a refresh as well. The Elitebook is in fact lighter that the Spectre and boasts a 180 degree tilt screen. The thinnest and lightest business-class notebook HP has ever created at only 12.4 mm and under 1 kg, the EliteBook Folio does not compromise on business-critical robustness, security and manageability.

Workstation Laptops

HP also introduced the HP ZBook Studio, the world’s first quad core workstation UltrabookTM (1). The 15.6-inch diagonal HP ZBook Studio, a meticulously designed performance machine for professionals on-the-go, revolutionizes the design language of mobile workstations – becoming HP’s thinnest and lightest full performance model ever brought to the market.

Starting at just 2kg and 18mm thin, the HP ZBook Studio can be configured to fit business and road warrior needs with professional choices of memory, processor, graphics and more.
