Haze or PSI Widget

This Android widget might come in handy, especially those that work in an outdoors environment. The public can access PSI updates through various channels, including NEA’s website, NEA Twitter, and NEA myENV App on iPhone and Android, as well as channelnewsasia.com. But a widget on the homescreen might just be easier.

After the haze had seemingly came down on Tuesday, it returned with a vengeance on Wednesday as our small island was shrouded with a permanent fog since morning. It has now breached very unhealthy levels and do try to stay indoors as much as possible.

There’s also another app by local developers, providing an easier and quicker way to stay up-to-date. It is SG PSI – Singapore’s Haze, which is a free Android app developed just for this purpose. The app draws information from NEA’s website and changes the background color to reflect the danger level of the haze. Get the app here.

There are three color codes – green, yellow and red. If the background color is yellow or red, users are advised to stay indoors. The developers deliberately placed a big font for the PSI reading for easy viewing. The background colour changes to reflect on the danger level of the haze and also incorporates live news from twitter.
