STRIX GTX960 Available in Singapore
The Strix GTX 960 goes on sale tomorrow, at a reasonable launch price of $369. ASUS has included some nice featuers, such as the DirectCU II for cooler performance and 0dB fan technology for totally-silent light gameplay. These gaming cards will run absolutely silent, 0dB, even when indulging in some “light gaming”. The cooling fans only kick into action when the GPU temperature surpasses a pre-defined level.
Strix GTX 960 is factory-overclocked at 1291 MHz and has a 1317 MHz boost clock speed in OC Mode. This translates to 12% faster gameplay in Assassin’s Creed® Unity and Battlefield 4™, and 6.5% faster performance for the 3DMark 11 (Extreme) benchmark at 1920 x 1080 than reference designs. For hardcore overclockers, the GPU Tweak software is provided to allow users to finetune GPU speeds further.
Enjoy performance 30% cooler and 3X quieter than reference
Strix GTX 960 comes with the ASUS-exclusive DirectCU II cooling technology that provides 220% more heat dissipation, resulting in performance that is 30% cooler and 3X quieter than reference designs. It is ideal for systems where noise is an important consideration. Strix ups the ante even more with 0dB fan technology that lets players enjoy light gaming in complete silence, due to a thermal design that is able to keep GPU temperatures below a set level, when the fan stops completely. The last cooling feature sees a strong, rigid backplate that helps dissipate heat quickly and provides an extra measure of protection against card damage. Useful? Perhaps when you are just surfing net, etc, but might also be more of a gimmick. Typical fans don’t make much noise at low RPMs.
ASUS has been pretty well known for producing quality and stable PC components, and one example of that is the usage of a 5-phase power design that not only enhances energy efficiency by 15%, widens voltage modulation tolerance, and therefore improve overall stability and longevity by 2.5X compared to reference designs.
AVAILABILITY & PRICING
Strix GTX 960 will be available in Singapore from 23rd January. Selling at $369 at ASUS authorized component resellers. ASUS will also be bundling it with a free ASUS Strix mousepad (speed).
At this pricing, it would undoubtedly be compared to the ATI Radeon R280, which comes with more RAM (1GB). Early benchmarks seem to indicate that these two run pretty close, but do note that the R280 is based off an older ATI design, and is less thermally efficient. Both are generally mid-range cards that handles 1080p gaming with ease.
