Sony’s Latest X8000C and S8500C TVs Now Available

Sony’s latest Android 4K DVB/T2 TVs are now available in Singapore. Both the Bravia X8000C (49″ & 55″) and Bravia S8500C (55″ & 65″) are equipped with features such as Sony’s 4K X-Reality PRO upscaling algorithm and DSEE (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine) for theater-like entertainment. In addition, the BRAVIA S8500C 4K Ultra HD TV features a curved screen to provide the perfect blend of immersion and comfort.

When it comes to Android TVs, Sony is one of the main manufacturers that have adopted the Google Android TV OS. Other makers like Samsung and LG are pursuing their own (Tizen and WebOS respectively). As a big time Android user, phones, tablets, it makes a lot of sense to get an Android TV so that everything is plugged to the same eco-system. You get instant access to the same familiar Play Store, and your purchased music, movies, games can be similarly played back on the TV. The TV also has Google Cast support, although one can argue that functionality can be replicated with a cheap Chromecast. Both the Bravia X8000C and S8500C runs on Android 5.0. No details on the chip or RAM specifications were provided.
