LG Q6: A Budget Choice With Tiny Bezels

LG Q6: A Budget Choice With Tiny Bezels

LG latest smartphone, the LG Q6 looks a lot like the more expensive G6, as it also includes the proprietary FullVision display. It will be available today in Astro Black, Ice Platinum and Terra Gold colors. The Q6 will retail at S$368 at M1, StarHub and other LG authorized retailers, and each purchase will come with a free phone case and transparent screen protector. For those getting it with contract, prices range from $0 to $148, great for those looking to re-contract.

The Q6 was designed for consumers who want a device that offers the technology of LG’s flagship smartphones at low prices. The Q6 shares DNA with the award-winning G6, the first smartphone to offer LG’s FullVision display. It is unequivocally, the standout feature. Not only does this unique display offer maximum space, it also allows for easy multitasking as the screen can be divided into two perfectly squared windows, viewable either vertically or horizontally.

If camera is important to you, there are some features that you might find interesting. The Square Camera Mode enables the merging of two images into one and the creation of square grid collages.

With a 100-degree wide angle front camera lens, the smartphone can fit more background in a single selfie shot.

The smartphone also uses a face recognition unlock – although safety on this feature is a big question mark.

The processor is a basic Snapdragon 435 – but should still be good enough for your media and messaging tasks. Just don’t expect it to handle the 3D games well.

Buyers in this range are pre-dominantly price-conscious. The LG Q6 comes in at $368 and might be further discounted. This makes for an interesting comparison to the other budget phones. What isn’t so good about the Q6 would be the lower-end processor, and also that it doesn’t come with a fingerprint sensor. It’s a pity that the fingerprint sensor couldn’t make the cut. If you just need a basic phone, the LG Q6 looks premium, will be able to do the basic tasks, and is a fairly affordable and reasonable phone to consider.

Btw, do seriously consider topping up for the flagship G6 instead. The LG G6 can be purchased usually for just over $600.
