D-Link HD Wide Angle Wi-Fi Camera – Omna 180

D-Link’s latest camera the Omna 180 Cam HD (DSH-C310) is now available at Apple.com and Singapore Apple stores. Unlike traditional IP cameras with a 120 degree field of view, D-Link’s unique 180-degree solution and de-warping technology allow users to see just about everything, from virtually anywhere.

Homekit Camera

The first in D-Link’s Omna family of HomeKit enabled devices, the Omna 180 Cam HD provides an easy way for users to monitor their home for extra peace of mind. When activity is detected, users will receive a notification on their lock screen, delivered via the Apple Home app. You can then access it for a live feed from the camera.

Features include:

  • 180-Degree Field of View
  • Dynamic Video Streaming – to optimise the bandwidth
  • Two-Way Audio
  • Night vision
  • Motion detection
  • local recording to SD card
  • Stylish Design

For those concerned about aesthetics, the D-Link Omna 180 does not look like your traditional IP camera. The camera is designed to fit into the modern home. While expensive, it is one of the few Homekit cameras. THere’s not much choice at the moment, and you do get good support from D-Link.

Review: D-Link DIR-890L router

Going beyond AC2400, we now have AC3200 routers on the market, and the D-Link DIR-890 router is one of them. We previously did a short introduction of the router when it first launched. Today, we’ll be doing a short review on an actual unit of the D-Link DIR-890, together with a comparison to the ASUS AC87U. The AC87U is not a AC3200 router, but it’s the next best router we have on our hands for a comparison.

D-Link Latest Router Screams for Attention

Yesterday’s afternoon was spent in the company of this striking red beast from D-Link. It’s their latest router, the DIR890L Wireless AC3200 Tri Band Router which would be coming to Singapore is now available in stores for $399. The DIR890L high performance router would be able to help you make good on your 1Gbps fibre broadband plan, with wireless access speed per client able to reach up to up to 1.3Gbps.

Key Highlights

  • Six High-Gain Antenna
  • Total Max Throughput of 3.2Gbps
  • 1 x USB 3.0 port, 1 x USB 2.0 port
  • D-Link Shareport access
  • DD-WRT (upcoming)

The router calls for attention with it’s bright red glossy shell. Drawing comparisons to a spaceship-inspired design, or a fierce insect with a pointed front, the DIR890L is one router that you would want to show off with its bright striking looks. No more concealed antenna design, the 890L sports a total of six positionable antennas to let you optimise the coverage for your home or office. Personally, I think it looks great, and the red / black design would go well in today’s modern home decoration and offers both an aesthetic touch, as well as functional performance with the three bands of Wi-Fi, fast speeds and beamforming capability. It does take up a fair bit of space – about the size of a game console (373 x 241 x 157 mm).
