SanDisk 128GB coin sized Flash Drive Now Available in Singapore

Sandisk announced today the 128GB SanDisk Ultra Fit 3.0, which is the world’s smallest USB 3.0 and smaller than the size of a $1 coin, will be available in Singapore retail outlets.

USB 3.0 drives are capable of speeds up to 10 times faster than a standard USB 2.0 drive. With these higher capacities, consumers can now save more of their favorite videos, photos and music on their laptops, TVs, gaming consoles or other entertainment systems. Faster speeds would allow you to expand your existing computer storage and not compromise on slow transfer speeds. With a USB 3.0 drive, you can transfer a full-length movie (1.2GB) in less than 40 seconds. In fact, you can even install an entire OS on these drives. Performance would therefore be crucial. SanDisk Ultra Fit: Read speeds from drive to computer up to 130MB/s. SanDisk Ultra: Read speeds from drive to computer up to 100MB/s. Write speed would be lower and vary by capacity. USB 3.0 port required. Speeds are based off SanDisk internal testing. Previously, the 64GB SanDisk Ultra Fit was the largest capacity available and from [benchmarks]((, it wasn’t particularly fast though. Would be interesting to test the read / write, random speeds to benchmark the 128GB performance.

SanDisk’s new USB 3.0 offering feature a five-year warranty; include SanDisk SecureAccess™ software to keep private files safe with password protection and 128-bit encryption; and come with a year’s subscription to RescuePRO® software to recover lost or corrupted files.

Pricing and Availability

Pricing in Singapore is OK, considering that Amazon prices the Ultra Fit 128GB at 79.99 USD. The Ultra Fit is a great handy size, perfect to expand the storage on your laptops, macbooks etc, with minimal overhang. If I were to choose a 256GB Macbook Air over the 128GB, that would cost me $300. I can buy an Ultra Fit for 30% of the difference.
