Sudio’s Ett is their latest wireless earphones and first to feature Active Noise Cancelling.

The Sudio Ett is ready to pair the moment it is removed from the charging case. And after initial pairing, you wouldn’t need to do it again. Everything pairs by itself automatically from then on. The Ett also switches back to pairing mode by itself once the connection is terminated; an audio prompt will tell you the earbuds have reverted to scanning mode. Generally easy to use, but might be troublesome if you want it to pair with another device without having to turn bluetooth off on your current one.

The Ett switches on the moment you remove the earbuds from the charging case. To switch it off, press and hold any button for 6 seconds. To switch it back on, you have to return them to the charging case first. I accidentally turned it off and I found it rather troublesome that I had to return them to the case first, but otherwise it’s rather simple to use. But at least there’s still a physical button to control.

The Sudio Ett now features a new colour Matte Green, which might appeal to some, especially for a more rugged look.

The battery life is relatively good, even with noise cancelling on. With the casing, you can extend it for a few more times. Also, the Ett’s casing can be charged wirelessly. Definitely a plus since wireless charging has become more common today.

Sound Quality

No major issues over the sound. It’s generally well balanced and suited for a range of music. One thing to highlight though, not sure if it’s due to the ANC, I tend to get listening fatigue after about an hour or so.

I was quite happy with the ANC on the Sudio ETT. Sitting next to a rather noisy fan, it was able to filter away the buzz and hum from the fan even though I was less than a meter away from it. One challenge was that it requires you to manually turn it on each and every time. For a seamless transition from music to phone calls, transparency mode automatically lets ambient noise through so you can better hear yourself speaking.

Conclusion

Sudio has continued to improve on it’s previous generations of earbuds. Unfortunately, the prices have also increased. Considering that the market is also becoming more competitive, buyers are spoilt for choice and would need to be discerning as to what they feature they really require. But for those needing an IPX5 earbuds and ANC, the Ett fits the bill. Here’s a code for those interested to get 15% off: gadgetreactorEtt at https://www.sudio.com/sg/. There’s free delivery worldwide and comes with 18 months warranty.

LifeTrak ZOOM HRV: A Heart Rate Variability Monitor

The LifeTrak Zoom HRV is a Heart Rate Variability Monitor, which is quite a rare capability.

_From Wikipedia: Heart rate variability (HRV) is the physiological phenomenon of variation in the time interval between heartbeats. It is measured by the variation in the beat-to-beat interval.
Other terms used include: “cycle length variability”, “RR variability” (where R is a point corresponding to the peak of the QRS complex of the ECG wave; and RR is the interval between successive Rs), and “heart period variability”.

Methods used to detect beats include: ECG, blood pressure, ballistocardiograms,[1][2] and the pulse wave signal derived from a photoplethysmograph (PPG). ECG is considered superior because it provides a clear waveform, which makes it easier to exclude heartbeats not originating in the sinoatrial node. The term “NN” is used in place of RR to emphasize the fact that the processed beats are “normal” beats._

Review: Samsung Gear S3

Samsung’s latest smart watch, the Gear S3, puts a timeless spin on the smartwatch category with two beautiful designs – the sporty Frontier for those outdoor types, and the Classic, which is the luxurious, classy dress watch option. I have been using the watch for the past weeks and have been quite pleased with it.

Samsung Gear S3, Galaxy A9 Pro, Level Audio To Be Available in Q4

Samsung Electronics Singapore recently launched the all new Samsung Gear S3, Galaxy A9 Pro (2016) and a new line of Level Audio Accessories. These new additions will tide fans while waiting for Samsung next flagship after the Note7 incident.

Samsung Gear S3

Built to incorporate compatible pairing between Samsung’s existing products family, the Gear S3 combines timeless design with the latest in mobile technology, including Military-grade Protection, IP68 water and dust resistance, mobile payments, and built-in speaker and GPS, making it the ideal addition to any watch collection.

The rotating bezel is a little confusing, coming from an Android Wear user perspective but I think it does help improve usability.

There’s also inbuilt Samsung Pay – and support mobile payments even without a phone nearby. It sounds just about perfect to bring the Gear S3 out for a jog, which comes with GPS to track your run / performance, and then, rejuvenate yourself at a pit stop.

The Samsung Gear S3 is available in two bold designs to suit different users’ lifestyles: frontier and classic. Inspired by the active explorer, the Gear S3 frontier evokes a rugged outdoor look with an enduring style that blends form and function. The frontier was designed to perform in any setting or environment – whether business or leisure.

The Gear S3 classic pays homage to the minimalist, elegant style found in the most iconic timepieces. The classic was designed with meticulous attention to detail – with its size and shape chosen to attain the same consistency and balance of a well-crafted luxury watch.

The emphasis this time around is on watch first – with the Gear S3 Frontier having design cues from Hublot. Especially the details on the Frontier buttons, and strap. And… that’s because Yvan Arpa, former MD of Hublot (2002-2006) was actively involved in the design.

The Gear S3 will be available at a recommended retail price of $548 from Q4 2016.

Review: Zenwatch 2

The Zenwatch 2 is one of the more affordable smart watches around, and Asus has just announced an improved Hypercharge model (charges faster!) at the same price. It’s available in two different sizes, so you can pick the right one for your wrist size. Here’s my review of the first generation “Wren”, which I think will be more suitable for ladies.
