Samsung Galaxy A5 and A7 Available End January 2017

The Samsung Galaxy A(2017) phones will be coming to Singapore 21 January 2017. The Galaxy A5 and A7 will be available in Singapore later this month, with the A3 absent.

The phones come with the now signature Galaxy flair of metal frame and 3D glass back, and sports useful bells & whistles such as a fingerprint sensor, IP68 rating, Samsung Pay compatibility, Knox support, and a microSD / dual SIM hybrid slot.

Both phones are powered by a 1.9 GHz Octa Core processor, the Exynos 7880, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage. The phones are essentially identical, so you just need to decide if you want a more palm friendly phone, or a bigger display for korean drama binging. A5 has a 5.2″ display and 3,000 mAH battery while the A7 sports a 5.7″ display and a 3,600 mAH battery.

Note: Thankfully, Samsung Singapore didn’t bring in the Galaxy A3, which has really underwhelming specifications in comparison to its bigger brethren.

What’s even better than the more premium Galaxy S series peers is the front 16 MP f1.9 camera. The camera software is now even easier to use with a adjustable, floating shutter button, and easy swiping to change modes. Samsung also made the jump to USB-C. We should expect similar features on the upcoming and much awaited Galaxy S8.

The A5 and A7 will be available at the recommended retail prices of $548 and $648. The phones do feel and resemble closely to the Galaxy S range, but are definitely more budget friendly. If you are a Samsung fan and aren’t going to play the latest games, these phones should serve you pretty well.
